Chapter 11 - Whispers in the Dark

The heavy steel door of the panic room hung crookedly on its shattered hinges, a jagged monument to Aiden’s sudden, violent resurgence. The piercing alarm continued to shriek, strobe-like crimson lights washing over the white marble floor in rhythmic, dizzying waves.
Marcus raised his pistol higher, his hands trembling slightly under the crushing weight of panic. “Stay where you are, Mr. Vance! One more step and I will put a bullet through your heart!”
Aiden didn't even slow his pace. He walked out of the dark enclosure with measured, unhurried strides, his gaze locked entirely on Viktor, who stood paralyzed beside the control console, the realization of his fatal mistake crashing down upon him.
“You left the master cryptographic token right on the edge of the briefcase, Viktor,” Aiden said, his voice dangerously low, echoing like thunder in the cavernous room. “After fifteen years of teaching me how to anticipate every betrayal, you actually believed I’d forget the one escape route I engineered myself?”
Viktor swallowed hard, his throat dry as bone. He took a half-step backward, his hand groping blindly along the console for a secondary alarm switch. “Aiden… listen to me. The accounts, the syndicates—they’re already out of your hands. Even if you kill us here, you have nothing left.”
“Nothing?” Aiden stopped three paces away from them, a dark, humorless chuckle escaping his lips. He reached into his inner coat pocket and pulled out a sleek, satellite-linked military-grade communicator—a device completely independent of the penthouse mainframe. “Viktor, you forgot the cardinal rule of the underworld: a king doesn't need a treasury to command an army. He only needs to show his generals that the usurper is weak.”
Before Marcus could pull the trigger, Aiden pressed a single red button on the satellite device.
Across the city, a synchronized chain reaction erupted. Every digital screen, every traffic control grid, and every private communication channel tied to Elena’s newly formed corporate coalition suddenly went pitch black, replaced not by her crest, but by a chilling, familiar symbol—a stylized wolf’s head, Aiden’s personal insignia.
Elena stepped forward, her face pale but her eyes blazing with an unyielding fire. She didn't cower; she faced him with the fierce dignity of a warrior queen refusing to bend her knee.
“You can shut down the servers, Aiden,” Elena said, her voice cutting cleanly through the blaring alarms. “You can threaten Viktor, and you can terrorize this room. But you can never undo the truth. Your empire was built on blood and stolen lives, and today, it finally burns to the ground.”

Aiden turned his piercing gaze toward her, his expression softening for a fraction of a second before hardening into pure, unadulterated steel.
“Let it burn, Elena,” Aiden whispered softly, stepping closer until he was standing mere inches away from her. “Because out of those ashes, I’m going to build a cage just for you.”
