Chapter 10 - Awakening in the Storm

Inside the warm cabin of the seized SUV, Elena pressed a damp cloth against her forehead, her hazel eyes sharp and fully alert despite the lingering exhaustion. She looked at the encrypted drive glowing softly on the dashboard.
“Hamilton,” she said into her comms piece the moment he slid into the passenger seat. “I managed to decrypt the secondary partition while you were out there. Vane wasn’t acting alone. The entire European syndicate branch is backing him.”
Hamilton glanced at her, noting the fierce determination replacing the fatigue in her features. He reached over, gently placing a hand over hers. “I know. Vane just gave us the names before I broke him.”

“Good,” Elena replied, pulling a spare Glock from the glove compartment and checking the magazine with a practiced click. “Because Zurich isn’t our only problem. Look at the radar ping I just intercepted from the main server.”
Hamilton looked at the dashboard screen. A cluster of red blips was moving rapidly toward their coordinates from the northern ridge. An elite cleanup squad.
