Chapter 8 - The Viper’s Strike

From the surrounding treeline, red laser dots suddenly danced across the chests of Vane’s mercenaries. Marcus and Viktor had deployed their sniper overwatch the moment they landed, turning the ambush into a trap. Vane’s men panicked, lowering their weapons as they realized they were entirely surrounded.

Color drained from Vane’s face as he spun around, searching the darkness for the snipers. “Hold your fire! This is a mistake—!”

“There are no mistakes, Vane. Only consequences,” Hamilton said, closing the remaining distance in a blur of motion. Before Vane could raise his rifle, Hamilton struck with lightning speed, driving the heel of his palm upward into Vane’s chin with bone-crushing force.

Vane stumbled backward, gasping for air as blood poured from his nose. Before he could hit the ground, Hamilton grabbed him by the tactical vest, lifting him off the pavement with terrifying strength.

“Where is the rest of the council?” Hamilton demanded, his voice dangerously low.
