Chapter 2 - Shadows in the Air

Marcus stepped back into the shadows of the cabin, his hand instinctively hovering near his holster. He leaned toward Viktor, whispering low enough that only the hum of the jet engines could mask their words. “That transmission frequency... it’s not from headquarters. Someone on the ground knows our exact coordinates.”
Viktor’s jaw tightened, his gaze darting toward Hamilton. Hamilton’s fingers traced the rim of his crystal whiskey glass, his eyes locked onto Elena’s peaceful, exhausted face. She had spent the last seventy-two hours tearing through encrypted financial networks, unearthing a massive leak within the syndicate. The toll it took on her body was immense, but the information she carried in her head—and on the encrypted drive clutched in her coat pocket—was worth a war.

“Let them track us,” Hamilton murmured, his voice calm yet carrying an unmistakable menace. “A trap only works if the prey walks right into it. And we are no prey.”
As he spoke, the jet banked hard to the left, altering its flight path abruptly. Marcus gripped the overhead strap as the cabin tilted, realizing they weren't heading for Geneva anymore. They were heading straight into the lion's den.
