Chapter 11 - Scars and Secrets

The SUV surged forward, tearing down the winding mountain road with Marcus at the wheel and Viktor covering the rear in a second vehicle. The rain lashed against the windshield in sheets, blurring the treacherous drop-offs on either side of the cliffside highway.
In the passenger seat, Elena exhaled slowly, her fingers tracing an old scar along her collarbone—a reminder of the day she swore her loyalty to Hamilton. “You didn't have to leave me on the jet, you know. I could have fought with you.”
“You fought enough today, Elena,” Hamilton replied quietly, keeping his eyes fixed on the rearview mirror where the headlights of the pursuing cleanup squad were rapidly gaining ground. “Some battles are mine to handle alone.”

Before Hamilton could answer, a loud explosion rocked the rear vehicle. Viktor’s voice crackled over the radio, laced with static and urgency. “Boss! We’ve got incoming heavy armor! They’re trying to run us off the road!”
