Chapter 9 - Breaking the Silence

Vane choked, coughing up blood as Hamilton’s grip tightened around his collar. The mercenaries dropped their weapons to the tarmac, raising their hands as Marcus and Viktor moved in to secure them, plastic zip-ties snapping into place with sharp efficiency.

“You... you won’t find them,” Vane wheezed, a defiant grin staining his teeth red. “They’re already in Zurich. The board has voted. You’re a ghost, Hamilton. A dead man walking.”

Hamilton stared into Vane’s eyes for a long, agonizing moment before letting out a cold, humorless chuckle. He threw Vane onto the wet pavement like a piece of garbage.

“Let them vote,” Hamilton turned his back on the groaning traitor, gesturing to Viktor. “Toss him in the trunk. We’re taking his transport. The private jet served its purpose.”

As Hamilton walked back toward the aircraft, the secure satellite phone in his pocket began to vibrate furiously. He pulled it out, answering the call without breaking stride. A familiar, trembling voice came through the speaker—Elena had woken up.
