Chapter 3 - The Ghost Protocol

Hamilton’s mind drifted back to the night in Marseille three years ago, when Elena had taken a bullet meant for him without a second thought. Back then, she was just a brilliant analyst with fire in her eyes. Now, she was the anchor of his entire empire. Looking down at her, he felt a rare surge of protectiveness that he kept fiercely hidden from the world. In their line of work, attachment was a death sentence. Yet, here he was, ready to burn down cities to keep her safe.

Viktor approached quietly, handing Hamilton a secured tablet. “The landing strip at Sector 4 has been compromised. Thermal scans show three unmarked vehicles waiting on the tarmac. Standard reception committee.”

Hamilton didn’t look up from Elena. He took the tablet, his thumb swiping across the screen to reveal live footage of the deserted airfield below. The vehicles were idling, their headlights off, waiting like predators in the dark.

“They think we’re flying blind,” Hamilton said softly. He tapped the screen twice, activating a hidden sequence. “Initiate Ghost Protocol. Let’s see who’s really hunting whom.”
