The judgment was delivered three days later. Judge Vance’s ruling was decisive: full physical and legal custody was awarded to Clara Evans. Julian was granted supervised visitation rights, contingent upon the completion of comprehensive psychological evaluations and parenting courses—terms that Julian’s pride would likely never allow him to accept.

Outside the courthouse, reporters swarmed the steps. Julian pushed through the crowd without a word, slipping into the back of his limousine, his empire untouched, but his soul bankrupt.

Clara and Gabriel walked down the steps together, the late autumn wind rustling the yellow leaves along the avenue. Clara held Leo close under a heavy wool blanket.

"It's over," she whispered, leaning against Gabriel’s shoulder as they reached his truck. "He can't take him."

"It’s not over, Clara," Gabriel said, opening the door for her and helping her settle the car seat safely. "This is just where the real life begins."

As they drove out of the city, the towering glass skyscrapers receded in the rearview mirror, replaced by rolling hills and open pastures. The air turned sweet with the scent of damp soil and approaching winter. Leo cooed in the backseat, batting his small hands against the soft blanket, blissfully unaware of the storm that had passed over his head.
