Chapter 6 - The Unspoken Truth

Behind the hidden door lay a small, forgotten room, completely preserved from the original homestead. The walls were lined with dried herbs, long since turned to dust, and small wooden carvings. On a stone table in the center rested a leather-bound diary belonging to Sarah Miller, the daughter of the original landowners.

Marcus opened the diary carefully. Its pages detailed the desperation of a family losing their home to greed, and Sarah's final days spent hidden in this room after her protests were violently silenced by guards hired by the elder Vance.

"She died down here, isolated and forgotten," Marcus read aloud, his voice strained. "Her spirit wasn't seeking revenge; she was seeking recognition. She was haunting the house because her story was erased."

Elena stepped closer to the stone table. As she looked at the diary, the oppressive cold in the room slowly gave way to a calm breeze. The lingering tension that had plagued her for months began to soften.

"I hear you, Sarah," Elena whispered softly into the quiet room. "Your voice will no longer be buried."

Julian knelt by the table, tears finally spilling over his cheeks. He realized how his own silence had mirrored his grandfather's cruelty, allowing his wife to suffer in isolation while he preserved an empty facade.
