Chapter 9 - Transforming the Foundation

The Vance Manor underwent a complete transformation. The heavy drapes were pulled back, allowing light to flood the corridors that were once cold and dark. The north wing was permanently converted into a public museum and historical research center dedicated to regional history.

On the day of the center's official opening, hundreds of local residents arrived to tour the grounds. The cellar, once a dark secret, was now a quiet memorial space filled with flowers and light.

Elena walked through the museum halls, watching children read the displays about early homesteaders. Marcus joined her, holding a copy of their completed historical register.

"We did it," Marcus said quietly. "The house feels different now. Peaceful."

"Because it has nothing left to hide," Elena replied.
