Chapter 7 - The Courage to Rebuild
The discovery of the hidden room changed everything. Rather than suppressing the discovery, Julian and Elena chose full transparency. They invited historians and local authorities to document the historical site beneath the manor.
Victoria Vance, unable to accept the dismantling of her family's flawless reputation, moved to a private residence abroad. The Vance family company was restructured, with Julian establishing a foundation dedicated to preserving local history and supporting victims of domestic emotional abuse and gaslighting.
Elena did not immediately move back into the manor. Healing required space and personal growth. She enrolled in a local university to finish her degree in historic preservation, finding purpose in giving voice to forgotten stories of the past.
One afternoon, Julian met her at a quiet park near campus. He carried two cups of coffee and wore simple clothes, leaving behind the armor of his corporate suits.
"I brought you these," Julian said, offering a cup. "I know I can't undo the past, Elena. But I want to earn a future with you, step by step, if you'll let me."
