Months passed, and the narrative around the Vance family shifted from scandal to redemption. Elena worked alongside Marcus to publish a detailed book about the history of the homestead and the lives erased by corporate expansion.
During a public reading at the town library, an elderly woman approached Elena. Her hands were weathered, her eyes soft with emotion.
"My grandmother was Sarah Miller's sister," the woman said, her voice shaking slightly. "For sixty years, our family was told that Sarah ran away and abandoned us. You gave us back our dignity."
Elena hugged the woman tightly. In that moment, she realized that her suffering had not been in vain. The pain she had endured had opened a door for justice, breaking a decades-old seal of deception.
