Chapter 11 - The Ride of Reckoning

The roar of Jax’s customized Harley-Davidson shattered the predawn silence as it tore through the empty downtown streets, heading straight for the gleaming glass monolith of the Vance Corporation headquarters. Emma sat tightly in the sidecar, wrapped in one of Jax’s old leather vests over her emerald gown, her hair whipping wildly in the wind. Christian rode behind them in a black armored SUV driven by Marcus, maintaining a tight tactical perimeter. The sky was just beginning to streak with a bruised shade of purple and gray as they pulled up to the main entrance of the corporate tower at 5:00 AM—seven hours before the scheduled emergency board meeting. Security guards rushed out to intercept them, but the moment Christian stepped out of the vehicle, clad in his black suit with his tie slightly loosened and his eyes blazing with fury, they froze in their tracks.
""Open the executive elevators,"" Christian ordered, his voice carrying the absolute weight of an absolute monarch. The guards scrambled to obey, swiping their master keys without a single word of protest. Emma walked beside Christian as they ascended to the 80th-floor boardroom, Jax trailing close behind them like a loyal, dangerous hound. When the elevator doors slid open, the penthouse panic felt miles away, replaced by the sterile, intimidating grandeur of corporate power. The long mahogany boardroom table was already set with annual reports, financial audits, and empty coffee cups from late-night plotting. Arthur Sterling sat at the head of the table, flanked by two corporate lawyers and a team of financial analysts, looking entirely unsurprised by their early arrival.
Sterling slowly set down his fountain pen, offering a thin, condescending smile. ""Well, look who decided to show up. We were wondering when you'd crawl out of your gilded cage, Christian."" Christian didn't take a seat. He walked straight to the head of the table, slammed a thick manila folder down onto the polished wood, and leaned over it, his knuckles whitening. ""You tried to raid my clinic, Sterling. You sent mercenaries into my garage,"" Christian hissed, his voice dangerously quiet. Sterling raised an eyebrow, feigning complete innocence. ""A heavy accusation, Christian. Especially without proof. But then again, a man who holes himself up with a pregnant housekeeper isn't exactly thinking clearly. The board has already drafted the emergency resolution for your removal due to moral turpitude and compromised executive judgment."" Sterling gestured to the papers in front of him. ""Sign it gracefully, and we ensure a quiet settlement for the girl. Resist, and we strip you of every share you own.""
